Being a freelance artist brings with it an inevitable insecurity. Many of us work in our studios producing art work without knowing who, if anyone, will purchase the product of our labors. We work toward an uncertainty, we jump and hope that there is water in the pool. The current pandemic amplifies this situation. With shows, residencies, and fairs all canceled it is harder than ever to visualize what we are working toward. Potential II represents this insecurity. The work embodies the potential to fall, but also to rise above.
